The Good
My first bite of this meal was the chips. And oh were they fantastic. The batter was done just right and the frying resulted in a very crispy skin and extremely fluffy and soft insides. Pretty damn amazing.
The kick ass burger was also quite decent. It was a good size to begin with. The meat patty was juicy, bacon was crispy, cheese was oozing all round, and all in a soft and lightly toasted brioche.
The Mediocre
The chicken in the Los Pollos Hermanos was quite ordinary. The batter had no particular taste to it, so I believe it was just plain flour coating an unseasoned piece of chicken. Honestly quite a small burger overall. Really, there was nothing else outstanding about this one except for the mushroom sauce.
The Mac and cheese was also quite disappointing. The cheese was relatively watered down and didn’t taste of much. Plus, there wasn’t much of it to begin with.
The Bad
Get your cutlery clean guys! Not cool to see stuff floating in your glasses….
Some staff had trouble understanding basic English. All were very friendly however.
The Verdict
Overall a decent experience, but it should be noted that the burgers were nothing remarkable, and it is on the expensive side for burgers.
Would Penguin Eat Again?
Maybe. I’d definitely go back for just the chips though. For burgers, I think I still prefer Cafe 51, Rockwell or Grand Trailer.
