The Good
TThe pork cheeks were grilled nicely and were sliced relatively thin. The marinate provided plenty of flavour and complemented well with the slight fattyness of the pork.
The tofu was also extremely fresh and came straight out of the fryer. The miso however was a tad overpowering and masked the aroma of the tofu itself. However the sauce provided good contrast in textures between the crunchy tofu and the smooth miso.
The Mediocre
Both ramen were pretty ordinary. They were served lukewarm and the ramen was of low quality. Portion sizes were on the small side as well. The only redeeming factor was the soups, which were flavourful and relatively thick.
The Bad
The lack of meat in the curry ramen was highly disappointing. There were only two thin slices of pork in the whole bowl!
The Verdict
Overall a passable joint for a quick feed if you were in the area. Definitely nothing to get excited about and most definitely not an authentic Japanese experience.
Would Penguin Eat Again?
If only I were desperate, then maybe I would go for some entrees. No way would I order ramen again from here though.
