The Good
The doughnut was very fresh with a soft yet firm texture akin to a new sponge. This is obviously very different to most other soft and fluffy donuts but this was a welcome change.
The chocolate also had a nice flavour to it, however given that it was “dark” chocolate, it was very much on the milky and sweet side.
The Mediocre
The ferrero on top was really just for looks. It adds pretty much nothing to the donut as there were already nuts sprinkled on top of the donut itself that
The Bad
Overall a bit too sweet. The dough itself was already sweet, coupled with the lack of contrast with the “dark” chocolate, it was totally a sweetness overload.
The Verdict
A very decent doughnut but they definitely need to balance the flavours more. The freshness of it is definitely a plus though.
Would Penguin Eat Again?
Yes I’d be very keen to try other flavours. It is on the pricey side though since at the end of the day, it is just a doughnut.
