The Good
They look pretty, and damn is that tiny teddy cupcake cute!
The dark horse cupcake had an exceptionally soft and moist core. The sweet chocolate within complemented the slight bitterness of the coffee dust on the outer quite nicely.
It had just the perfect amount of softness and moisture for a cupcake and with the great balance of flavours, resulted in a pretty extraordinary cupcake.
The Mediocre
Nothing!
The Bad
The Tiny Teddy was very ordinary. The chocolate flavour didn’t come through well in the cake and this was coupled with an overly sweet white chocolate frosting.
The cherry, actually the teddy biscuit, on top was no longer crunchy and honestly quite stale. What a disappointment!
Also, the server asked me THREE separate times whether I was taking away or dining in. Ugh!
The Verdict
Seems like it’s either an amazing or a terrible experience given how inconsistent the quality of the two cupcakes were.
Would Penguin Eat Again?
Maybe, but unlikely given the price and how ordinary the Tiny Teddy turned out to be. Might just go across the street and grab a Doughnut Time.
