Food
- Steamed Pork Dumplings
- Stir-Fry Chinese Broccoli with Garlic
- Glutinous Rice with Meat wrapped in Banana Leaf
The Good
The vegetables were very fresh and was served with just the right amount of crunch. This was coupled with a decent amount of garlic which made for a pleasant stir fry.
The dumplings were very juicy and served hot straight out of the steamer. The meat within was fresh and was seasoned with good amounts of ginger and shallots. The only downside was the dumpling skin which was overly thick and at times overly chewy.
Ingredients overall in both noodles were very fresh and its apparent they didn’t skimp on quality nor quantity. Vegetables tasted wholesome and unprocessed.
The Mediocre
Nothing.
The Bad
The glutinous rice was downright bad. Nothing was right about this. The rice was way too sticky, like someone put some superglue within. I could barely scoop it out of the banana leaf! There was barely any flavour despite the dark colour of the rice suggesting lots of soya sauce was added.
The meat was old, dry and tough. Overall a disaster of a dish.
The Verdict
I would suggest sticking to the more popular dishes here as being adventurous never seems to pay off at Auntys. Otherwise a very decent feed at a cheap cheap price.
Would Penguin Eat Again?
Dumplings and noodles? Yes. Never again would I order that glutinous rice though.
