The Good

The pancakes were of a decently size and were soft and fluffy. The strawberries and blueberries were fresh and plentiful. The mascarpone on top, which was smooth and rich went well with the sugary maple syrup. This was definitely a sweetness overload!

The veggie patch had equally fresh ingredients, with the poached egg oozing very nicely once sliced open. The mushrooms were flavourful and well cooked.

However the standout was the house made hash brown which was very unique. Think of a scoop of mashed potatoes that’s been batter coated and fried. Fantastic!

The Mediocre

The pancakes itself were thinner than expected and one had been slightly charred on a side. Not sure how I felt about the burnt side…

The spinach from the veggie patch was a tad lack lustre. The spinach could’ve been cooked through more and it lacked flavour overall

The Bad

Service was definitely on the slow side and the smiles seemed strained.

The Verdict

Overall a decent but unexciting place for brunch. Being not on a paleo diet, I have no idea how the food actually stacks up to paleo requirements. However it definitely tastes good and ingredients are fresh.

Would Penguin Eat Again?

Sure. While everything tastes good, nothing was extraordinary that would take me back in a hurry.
