  • The Flaming Crown Burger
  • Buffalo Fried Chicken Burger

The Good

The beef patty was nice and juicy with good flavour. This was complemented by the cheese quit well.

The fries were also plentiful. Very much akin to what you get at McDonalds, which can either be good or terrible for some.

The Mediocre

The jalapeños and hot sauce were seriously disappointing. Not only were they extremely mild, the sauce also lacked any depth in flavour. It’s like a slightly hot version of a tomato sauce.

The fried chicken was on the dry side. Coupled with the poor seasoning, this resulted in a pretty terrible piece of fried chicken. KFC could’ve done better with their eyes closed.

The Bad

The buns were burnt. Like seriously, blackened, charcoal. Just look at that photo. This resulted in a bitter taste in both burgers and was particularly terrible on the fried chicken burger.

The slaw within the chicken burger was rather unspectacular. The vegetables weren’t particularly fresh and the dressing, or lack thereof, was void of flavour. Combining all of the above factors made for a pretty abysmal chicken burger.

The wait was also ridiculous. 30+ minutes on a quiet Monday night. And to be served something that’s burnt. Seriously?

The Verdict

$44 for a just-okay-burger and a terrible disaster that is the fried chicken. Coupled with the long wait times, this was overall a highly unpleasant and unsatisfying experience.

Would Penguin Eat Again?

Not a chance. Sorry guys, you really blew it with this one. I would much rather something from Rockwell & Sons or Cafe 51 at half the price and an infinitely better burger.
