Food

  • Grilled Whole Baby Snapper with Mushroom sauce
  • 24-hour Pork Scotch Fillet with pork crackling

The Good

All the ingredients were very fresh, which obviously provides a good foundation for simple dishes like the fish and the pork.

The fish was grilled rather nicely, with a golden brown skin enclosing a soft and tender inner. The fish could’ve been more juicy though.

The pork was very flavoursome. It was seasoned just right and was surprisingly well complemented by the peanut sauce.

Complimentary bread was definitely a nice touch. The bread was warned before serving although the crust was no longer crunchy. It was a pretty decent whole-wheat bread that soaked up the olive oil nicely.

The Mediocre

The pork was rather chewy. There wasn’t much tendon, but the meat itself was just tough.

The Bad

The service. Yes they really tried, but there’s a fine line between attentive and annoying. Unfortunately the amount of attention given during this meal leaned on annoyingly.

The Verdict

An overall decent meal. However ‘nice’ everything was, there seems to be a lack of wow factor in any part of the whole meal.

Would Penguin Eat Again?

Maybe. I do think there are many places that offer more spectacular dishes at a similar price though.
