- Frenchy w/ Bacon & Jalapenos
The Good
The buns were nicely toasted and were a soft brioche variety with sesame seeds on top. Tastes as good as they look!
The cheese within the New York was flavourful and was applied liberally. While this made for a messy burger, it was definitely delicious and was the highlight of the burger.
Bacon within both burgers were nicely fried to just crispy and were a decent size.
The Mediocre
The Frenchy overall was pretty ordinary. The so-called potato rosti was nothing more than a glorified, twice-fried potato cake. While the caramelised onions were nice and complemented the sauce quite well, the burger was letdown by the lack of cheese.
The Bad
The beef patties were quite odd.
Now I rarely complain of low quality beef, the patties here not only had tendons, there were bits of the patties that separated and fell out of the burger completely.
Eaten by itself, those bits were exceedingly chewy and tough. It was also apparent that there hasn’t been much seasoning nor did the beef itself have much flavour.
The Verdict
Overall a half decent burger that was held together by great cheese, bun, and bacon. All other components were kind of a let down however.
Would Penguin Eat Again?
Maybe. I would love to give this one a try and see how good this will taste with a decent high quality patty.
