The Good
The eggplant chips were probably the highlight of the evening for me. There was a very slight batter on the outer giving a bit of a crunch, with the eggplant meat itself exceedingly soft and tender. The seasoning was done just right and complemented the eggplant well. Honestly one of the best eggplant chips I’ve had.
The meatballs pizza was also delicious. The flavours were authentic Italian as was the pizza base. Although it could’ve been baked in the oven for a tad longer to give the base yet more crunch, it was pretty much spot on in terms of flavours, texture and thickness. The Napoli sauce was perfect and really brought together the meat and cheese. Overall an extremely flavourful and delicious combination where most components were done to perfection.
The Melanzane pizza was a tad on the plain side with the eggplant flavours less bold than desired. However the ingredients were extremely fresh and the caramelised onions brought much needed flavour to all other components. Napoli sauce once again was spot on.
The Mediocre
While the meatballs were extremely flavourful and aromatic, one gripe about them were that they erred slightly on the dry side. It is apparent that the meat used was of high quality. This could’ve been a real winner if more moisture was retained while cooking.
The Bad
Nothing.
The Verdict
A delicious, authentic Italian experience that left me wanting more. Staff were cheerful and pleasant, despite the long wait times for food.
Would Penguin Eat Again?
