The Good
The caramel flavour within the Dulce de Leche wasn’t overpowering, with just the right balance of caramel flavour. Within, the bits of choc chip provided good crunch and contrasted the otherwise smooth ice cream. Thich proved to be the highlight of this ice cream.
The Mediocre
The lemon sorbet was rather ordinary. The texutre was not right. While labelled as a sorbet, it had the texture of a runny cake batter and was not smooth.
The Bad
The lemon zest was overpowering, and given the fact that it was extremely bitter, this ruined the whole lemon sorbet part of the ice cream.
The Verdict
Quite an ordinary ice cream given the price. Nothing outstanding in terms of flavour nor texture.
Would Penguin Eat Again?
Nope. There are much better options in Melbourne. In fact, much better choices just on Lygon Street itself.
I certainlty won’t be back.
