The Good
The cheeseburger was pretty spot on overall. The bun was a brioche variety and it was denser than most. The copious amounts of cheese was flavourful and went rather well with the beef patty, which tasted of quality beef.
The sauce deserves a special mention and really brought the burger together, along with the extremely fresh ingredients in particular the pickles and lettuce.
The chips were simply divine. The batter provided a delightful crunch and the outer had just the right hardness. This combined with great seasoning and honestly a tad too much salt proved to be a mouthwatering combination. Enclosed within was soft, fluffy potatoes that contrasted the crunch of the outer skin. Perfect.
The Mediocre
While the beef did taste of quality beef, the same can’t be said for the texture. Given the relative toughness of some part of the meat, I struggle to see how this patty originated from “short rib and beef brisket”. Both of which should be extremely tender and melts in your mouth.
The Bad
Nothing.
The Verdict
Overall a pretty delicious burger that went well with chips cooked to perfection. Not bad at all!
Would Penguin Eat Again?
Yes. I will be back to try their chicken for sure. And more of those chips. Seriously.
