The Good
The chicken was quite nice overall. Fresh out of the frier with just the right amount of batter, each mouthful was filled with a distinct and tasty crunch followed by juicy and tender chicken. This combined with the curry sauce (which was thick and spicy) made for a delicious chicken dish that surely didn’t disappoint.
The Taiwanese sausage was also a decent effort. The flavour was pretty much spot on and reflects the authentic grilled sausage sold in Taiwan. One criticism however would be the skin, which could be grilled for a tad longer to provide a better crunch.
The Mediocre
The sides in the Bento box were overall very ordinary. While ingredients were overall fresh, especially the salad, nothing tasted remarkable.
The Bad
The spring rolls in the Bento box were disappointing. The insides were indistinguishable and mushy. Just some cheap, store-bought frozen spring rolls without any real meat within.
The Verdict
Overall a half decent Taiwanese restaurant that excels in the mains and offer authentic flavours and dishes. The sides though, were a bit ‘meh’.
Would Penguin Eat Again?
Yeah maybe. Nothing was outlandishly good or bad that would swing me either way.
