Food
- Pho with Sliced Beef, Beef Balls & Chicken
- Rice Vermicelli with Barbequed Pork
The Good
The pho was huge. Not only was it in a huge bowl, within was loads of noodles and an abundance of beef, chicken and beef balls. There was also a generous amount of bean sprouts accompanying this huge bowl.
Noodles were silky smooth and cooked to just the right softness. The beef and chicken were tender and flavourful. The broth was steaming hot, rich and full of flavour which made it perfect for cooking the bean sprouts. This was absolutely spot on in every way.
The rice noodles were just as good as the pho noodles despite being a thinner variety. The barbeque pork was tender and bursting with flavour. This was also applied liberally. Sprinkling on some chilli gave the bowl an extra kick in flavour and made for a simple yet flavour meal.
The Mediocre
Nothing.
The Bad
Nothing.
The Verdict
Admittedly I often find pho a tad underwhelming. However on this occasion, the ingredients, cooking and flavour were absolutely on point. At this price point, this pho simply can’t be beaten.
Would Penguin Eat Again?
Absolutely. Hands down one of the best pho I’ve had in Melbourne and I will definitely be back.
