  • Cheese Chicken Bulgogi
  • Seafood Ramen
  • Japchae

The Good

The Cheese Chicken Bulgogi was surprisingly scrumptious. Having been served on a hot plate, this ensured that the huge mountain of cheese melted and clung onto the tender pieces of chicken in due course, which proved to be a rather messy feed. The chilli sauce, which I suspect is the famous Korean gochuchang, added great flavour to this cheesey combination. This made for a rather delicious concoction and it’s no doubt why seemingly every table had also ordered this delicious dish.

The Mediocre

The Japchae (Potato Noodles), along with the slices of beef, were extremely chewy. While the vegetables and sauces made for decent flavour and wasn’t overly sweet, the chewiness of the main components definitely let it down. Too bad the beef was of such low quality.

The Bad

The Seafood Ramen was quite a disappointment. One would expect a restaurant to ‘add value’ to just a simple, store-bought ramen. The ramen noodles itself were unremarkable. Unfortunately, the less-than-generous portions of seafood was of a frozen variety and tasted it.

The Verdict

Overall a half-decent Korean restaurant that’s pretty good for cheap, basic feeds, but not much else. Anything fancier and they just seem to execute rather poorly.

The complementary sides were a nice touch though…

Would Penguin Eat Again?

Perhaps. Only when I’m desperate for a cheap Korean feed though, and even then there are loads of other options just in the CBD…
