The Good
The Chilli Cheese Fries packed a punch in terms of spicyness. With a generous amoutn of hot sauce drizzled on top, this crunchy and chilli combination was pretty salivating. Unfortunately, these fries could've done with more cheese, as it wasn't as stringy as I'd hoped. The flavours though, were spot on and quickly became one of the better dirty fries I've had.
The Mediocre
Sadly, the Bergerk was a tad underwhelming. The meat to bun ratio was definitely off, as the Southern Fried Chicken within wasn't nearly thick enough to balance out their thick and heavy brioche. The chicken itself was rather unspectacular, lacking in flavour in both the crumbing and the chicken itself. The batter could also definitely do with a lot more crunch. Much of this was salvaged by a generous amount of chipotle mayo, providing much of the flavours of this burger.
The Bad
Nothing.
The Verdict
Best burgers in Melbourne? I think not. Far from it in fact.
For all intents and purposes, it was passable, but there was definitely nothing outstanding that would make me come running back.
Would Penguin Eat Again?
Maybe. According to fellow food bloggers, their chicken burgers are usually a hit and miss, and I should've gone with their beef or pulled pork burgers. Maybe next time then...
