The Good
The Hazelnut was perhaps one of the best we've ever sampled. With a deep and rich flavour, the hazelnut aroma was strong and bold. The texture of the gelato was exceptionally creamy and rich, and, with actual discernable hazelnuts within, provided a nice diversity in texture.
We also enjoyed Bacio, which is a mixture of chocolate and hazelnut. The chocolate was forward without being overly sweet and overpowering, a common sin. Perhaps just as enjoyable as the Hazelnut itself.
Raspberry Shortbread bears close resemblance to a fruity cheesecake. Again with actual chunks of raspberry embedded within, this rich and buttery gelato was exceedingly creamy. The acidity of the raspberry beautifully balanced out the sweetness of the gelato itself.
The Mediocre
Nothing.
The Bad
Nothing.
The Verdict
Zero Gradi offers very generous serving sizes with a plethora of unique flavours. The gelato served here holds true to their Italian heritage, and ranks amongst the best I've ever had, Melbourne or otherwise.
Would Penguin Eat Again?
While Zero Gradi is a tad more expense than my other favourite joint Pidapipo, the price tag is definitely warranted as the quality of the gelato served here is pretty much unparalleled.
I'd definitely be back for more, as this is now my favourite Italian gelato in Melbourne.
