  • Matcha Latte
  • Japanese Iced Coffee

The Good

The Cream Puff was undoubtedly the highlight. With the puff airy and spongy, with a slight crunch on the outer. Sandwiched within was a generous blob of matcha cream, which proved to be rather rich and contained great flavours of matcha. The contrast in textures made this rather delectable.

The Matcha Opera Cake was also enjoyable. Great matcha flavour permeated throughout the many different layers of the cake, each providing a unique taste and texture. Combining all the layers resulted in an intricate and rather enjoyable experience, loaded with matcha of course.

The Mediocre

The Matcha Latte was a tad disappointing. While the flavour was bold and the Matcha wasn't overly bitter, the texture was extremely grainy, as if the matcha hasn't been properly mixed in.

The Japanese Iced Coffee also proved to be rather unspectacular. The coffee itself didn't carry with it much depth in flavour. This was further diluted by the ice. Didn't really get the caffeine hit I was hoping for.

The Bad

Nothing.

The Verdict

Overall it was a decent afternoon tea. Nothing that was overly astounding, though nothing was that bad either. Just your average, run of the mill Japanese cafe.

Would Penguin Eat Again?

I'd be back if we were in the area again to give their mains a go.
