The Good
Served piping hot, the ramen noodles were cooked to absolute perfection. Silky smooth and soft with just the right amount of chewiness, the noodles were well complemented by the rich and flavoursome broth.
The broth of the Black Tori Ramen was exceptionally flavourful, creamy and bold, with a strong garlic and chicken aroma permeating throughout. The black sesame paste, along with additional sesame oil added in, provided exceptional flavour to the noodles
The added soft boiled egg was also cooked to perfection. The runny inner simply spilled out with the first bite. This was of course well complemented by the chicken cha-shu, which were flavourful and quite tender across both bowls. Unfortunately, the chicken protein had a slightly tougher texture than expected.
The Mediocre
Nothing.
The Bad
Nothing.
The Verdict
The ramen served here was absolutely delicious, and holds true to its Japanese heritage. At Hakata, not only are you able to sample authentic Japanese ramen, but you are also transformed and thrown into an authentic Japanese experience too.
Would Penguin Eat Again?
Absolutely, though I feel that pork cha-shu works much better for ramen, so will be returning the Russell Street store instead.
