The Good

The Pork Ribs were absolutely delicious and definitely stole the show. Smothered in a generous layer of sweet barbecue sauce, the protein within was undeniably tender and soft. While not quite fall-off-the-bone, the protein exhibited a good pork flavour throughout and, being prepared on a grill, ensured that the juices were properly sealed in.

We also enjoyed the Lamb Ribs. While slightly tougher than the pork, the lamb provided even greater intensity in flavour. Once again exceptionally juicy and flavoursome, the slight bits of fattiness amidst the meat definitely added extra bursts in flavour.

Another highlight of the restaurant were of course the schnitzels,. Hand pounded to a great tenderness, the wholesome, unprocessed chicken meat was universally thick and juicy. With a light layer of crunchy crumbing on the outer, these generously sized schnitzels came with a variety of toppings with option to modify it to your hearts’ content. We thoroughly enjoyed the Mexcian topping, which was a refreshing and tasty mix of salsa, guacamole, sour cream and of course, spicy spicy jalapenos. The fresh, coldness of the creamy toppings perfectly contrasted the piping hot schnitzel.

Loaded Fries are of course a must-have, and our favourite was the Mushroom Loaded Fries. Coming exceptionally rich and creamy, the mushroom sauce was accompanied by actual, chunky slices of mushroom. With the added cheese, this was perfectly accompanied by a bed of crunchy sweet potato fries. The perfect side to these ribs and schnitzels!

The Mediocre

We weren’t big fans of the American Schnitzel. While it seemed mighty exciting to load Frankfurt sausages, coleslaw and mustard onto a schnitzel, the flavours didn’t quite appeal to our palate once combined. Maybe it’d work better in a hot dog, but on a schnitzel? I’m yet to be convinced.

The Bad

Nothing.

The Verdict

Given that owner Yoram has combined two of the best-selling products in his previous ventures, its no surprise that Ribs & Schnitzel undeniably excels at what they do best – the ribs, and the schnitzels. While I am probably a bigger fan of the latter, both were incredibly tasty and offers great value for money.

Would Penguin Eat Again?

Definitely. While this isn’t my first visit here, it certainly won’t be my last, and I’d gladly be back for more schnitzels as I excitedly anticipate more new and exciting toppings ahead.
