The Good

Northern Perk Breakfast Tower was an absolute sight to behold. While portion sizes tailored to the number of people on the table, each patron was allocated a generous amount of food. With two crispy hash browns, a huge slab of eggs on toast, various meats as well as a variety of greens, you were sure to be satisfied.
The flavoursome chorizos were well accompanied by lightly seasoned and fresh spinach and mushrooms. With half an avocado each and roasted tomatoes topped with halloumi, this breaky was packed full of flavour yet incredibly refreshing.

The highlight though would be the stack of pancakes sitting on top of the tower. With a full Cornetto sticking out, the pancakes were fluffy and spongey without being overly airy. The ice cream provided a pleasant creaminess and sweetness, and made for a delicious conclusion to the huge breakfast.

The Mediocre

Unfortunately the Oreo Freakshake didn’t quite taste as spectacular as it looked. Sitting on top of the shake was a house-made ice cream sandwich accompanied by an abundance of fairy floss. The most delicious bit though would be the Nutella and crushed Oreos masking the sides of the glass, which had just the right combination of sweet and biscuity flavour. Unfortunately, as we finally reached the actual milkshake, the shake itself felt rather bland and watery, and definitely needed more Nutella and Oreo flavour.

The Bad

Nothing.

The Verdict

While the Northern Perk Breakfast Tower was undoubtedly an eyecandy and the main attraction to the eatery, this outrageous dish most definitely delivered on taste as well.

Would Penguin Eat Again?

It was a thoroughly enjoyable and satisfying breakfast, less the shake, and I’d happily be back for more.
