The Good

It was an impressive start with the Italian Style Hot Chocolate. Stunningly presented, the beautiful, thick layer of whipped cream on top was decorated with drizzles of flavoursome chocolate sauce. Underneath hid a beautifully fragrant and aromatic chocolate drink, with just the right amount of sweetness that was balanced out by the ever so slight, dark bitterness of the cacao. Made richer and silky smooth by the whipped cream, this was one flawless chocolate drink.

The Matcha White Chocolate Shake was no less enjoyable. Once again topped with a mountain of whipped cream, we found the drink to be bold with matcha flavour. Due to the sweetness and milkiness of an abundance of white chocolate within, the matcha here was forward but didn’t exhibit the slightest hint of bitterness.

We proceed to sample the Monsieur Green Tea, one of the prettiest matcha cake we have ever come across. The green tea mousse was incredibly light and smooth. With a pleasant hint of matcha flavour permeating throughout, the mousse gave way to a raspberry cream centre that added a refreshing sweetness and slight tartness. With rather complementary flavours, the cute dollop of raspberry jam topping the cake added an extra flare, especially with that edible gold flake!

The Hazelnut Mille Feuille was a spectacular sight and delivered on taste as well. The wholesome hazelnuts within provided incredible crunch, directly juxtaposing the pillowy softness of the milk chocolate ganache. Topped with a thick layer of chocolate chantilly cream with a hint of hazelnut permeating throughout, this was any chocolate lover’s dream come true, offering incredible diversity in textures without an overwhelming sense of chocolate richness.

The Macarons were another highlight. Each at a good size, the delicate and colourful outer layer sandwiched a still-soft and gooey inner. The crumbling outer shell simply melted away along with the flavourful filling. What we did like was that none of the macarons were overly sweet, yes even our favourite flavour – the Golden Gaytime.

We also sampled a variety of Selene’s Chocolates and Pralines. Each uniquely decorated with beautiful ornamentations, you were in for a surprise as each gem had a unique filling within. The gel-like inner were universally flavoursome and creamy, ranging from rich caramel to fruity flavours like tangerine.

The Mediocre

Nothing.

The Bad

Nothing.
