The Good

The Cheese Tart once again didn’t disappoint. Our specimen was still-warm, fresh out of the oven. The buttery outer was crusty and crumbly, at just the right density. Within, the much awaited cheesy inner was soft and gooey, and the beautiful cheese aroma was forward with just the right consistency.

The Mediocre

Unfortunately the newly released Chocolate Tart didn’t tickle our fancy. The chocolate custard within was well balanced in terms of sweetness, though the chocolate flavour wasn’t quite as bold as we hoped. The crumbs scattered in tip did add texture, but the tart simply felt much less remarkable than its original counterpart.

The Bad

Nothing.

The Verdict

While we undoubtedly still found their cheese tarts enjoyable, Hokkaido is no competition for the likes of BAKE and Uncle Tetsu.

Innovation for innovation’s sake almost never turns out well, and honestly we’d just stick with the original and the best flavour.

Would Penguin Eat Again?

Sure we’d be back, but we will only be sticking with the original next time round.
