The Good
The Teh Tarik was definitely something special, a flavour unheard of in gelato.The incredibly fragrant and aromatic sensation pulled milk tea was bold, front and centre and definitely made us reminisce days spent drinking sweetened milk tea in Asian countries. The smooth creamy texture, combined by a pleasant tea flavour, definitely made this our favourite scoop of the day.
Another highlight must be the Chendol. Embedded with chunks of worrm-like green jelly that’s a signature component of this icy dessert, this famous and traditional street-food was beautifully sweet thanks to the palm sugar syrup. With a lovely coconut flavour permeating throughout and a pleasant variation in texture thanks to the rice jelly,
For those that are a tad less adventurous, Chocolate flavour was also on offer. However being catered to an Asian palate, we found the gelato less sweet and rich than expected, erring towards a darker side. However, it was nevertheless still creamy, smooth and enjoyable.
The Mediocre
We found the Minty Lychee Sorbet a tad too sweet for our liking. The sorbet also melted rather quickly and quickly resulted in a slushy-like texture, as the intensity of the sweetness grew.

Beku Gelato s definitely a welcome addition to the ever-expanding diversity of ethnic foods in Melbourne. Their Asian-inspired flavours, namely the Teh-Tarik and Cendol, were absolutely spot on and closely mimics the traditional
