The Good
It was a great start with the Popcorn Chicken. The light batter coating each chunk of dark meat was beautifully seasoned and fried to a crispy golden brown. Loaded with salt and pepper and plenty of five-spice seasoning, this no doubt offered up a very fragrant aroma, and the savoury sensations were well accompanied by the tender chicken protein within.
The Gangnam Style was a popular choice according to owner Alvar, and we quickly understood why. Sandwiched within a toasted, soft fluffy bun, the star of the show was undoubtedly the hefty 210gram premium beef patty. Ground in-house, the aptly fatty blend of grass fed beef was incredibly juicy and flavoursome, cooked just right and provided a pleasant beefy flavour throughout. This was well accompanied by a Korean mayo and some delectable Kim Chi that offered up a satisfying spice without overwhelming heat. Combined with melted cheese and crunchy Asian slaw, the flavours and textures just worked so well together.
Our Oh Crab burger certainly didn’t disappoint either. With its claws protruding outside the dark charcoal bun, the soft shell crab itself was fried to perfection, it’s delicate, crispy outer enclosing a succulent and juicy inner of tasty crab meat. The generous helping of wasabi Mayo ensured a forward, Japanese-esque flavour that provided a slight tingle in the mouth, and coupled with fresh leaves of lettuce and slices of tomato, this juicy and crispy burger certainly went down a treat!
We rounded off our meal with the Bruce Fries. Named after the renowned Kung-Fu master Bruce Lee, these fries were definitely fit for a champion. Topped with a generous helping of pulled pork that was incredibly juicy thanks to the fattier than average mix, the fries themselves were crunchy on the outer and soft and fluffy within. The bonito flakes added a distinctly Asian twist and a textured finish, while the spice from the sirarcha mayo turned up the heat and made the fries incredibly appetising.
The Mediocre
Nothing.
The Bad
Nothing.
