The Good

We’ve got nothing but good things to say about the French Toast. Fresh out of a light fry with a beautifully flakey, crisp outer, the slice of butter slowly melted away atop the toast. Cutting in reveals a soft and spongy inner, beautifully eggy and with a generous helping of peanut butter sandwiches within. Coupled with a drizzle of maple syrup for sweetness, this sweet and savoury, traditional Hong Kong treat certainly hit the spot.

The Mediocre

Nothing.

The Bad

The Chicken and Mushroom Baked Rice was just tragic. The bad presentation made way for an even worse experience on the palate. The cream sauce was thin and lacked flavour, while the chicken was grey and definitely not fresh. With the occasional bits of shrivelled mushroom and frozen diced veggies scattered throughout, this was easily the worst thing we’ve had for a long while.

The Verdict

It was definitely too adventurous to try a main at Monga Dessert Lounge. Given its name, their desserts were no doubt generally well executed and tasty.

The selling point though was definitely the decor, vibe and layout of the place, which instantly transforms you into a traditional cafe in Hong Kong.
