The Good
It’s no surprise that the Blue Marlin Special was the best seller. The highlight of the burger must be our addition of the mini parma. With a crunchy crumbed outer and plenty of cheese melted on top, the chicken within was juicy and well seasoned. Sitting underneath were two thin yet juicy beef patties, well cooked and offering plenty of beefy flavour. With the double cheese aptly melted and dripping over the sides offering a richness, the heavier components were well contrasted by the crisp, tangy pickle and just a hint of mustard offering a slight spice. Combined with just the right amount of house special sauce and the sweetness of ketchup, all held together by two fresh and fluffy buns, this burger most definitely delivered on all fronts.
Contrasting the burger was the arguably healthier option, the Seafood Platter. The standout was undoubtedly the crunchy, char-grilled prawns that were exceptionally fresh and juicy. The sizeable scallops also impressed, so incredibly tender and almost melting away in your mouth. Meanwhile the simple pan fried salmon was done to perfection, it’s lightly crisp outer enclosed a succulent and juicy inner with great fresh flavour. Served with a generous helping of salad and brown rice, this giant platter is best not attempted alone.
Our Cheesy Bacon Chips certainly deserve a special mention. Topped with plenty of bacon bits, spring onions, melted cheese and barbecue sauce, the chips underneath were fried just like the good old days, crispy and crunchy on the outside, soft and fluffy within. The sweetness of the barbecue sauce was peasant without being overwhelming, and worked remarkably well alongside the savoury components, while the melted cheese juxtaposed the crunch of the chips perfectly.

The Verdict
Blue Marlin is so much more than just a fish and chip shop. Their emphasis on fresh, quality ingredients and generous portion sizes translate to a memorable and incredible meal that brings you back to the good old days. Not only were the seafood flawless, their amazing burger menu certainly gave specialised burger joints a good run for their money too.
For those looking for an affordable yet incredibly satisfying and tasty feed, this is one of the best in the West that you should definitely NOT miss!
