The Good

We warmed up with a Creamy Cauliflower Soup. Generously served in a giant bowl, the soup was rich and flavourful, with a beautiful cauliflower aroma permeating throughout. The creamy texture was well accompanied by ripping apart and dipping in bits of warm house baked pretzel. Delicious.

We also enjoyed the Stuffed Peppers and Steak Tartare. The peppers were grilled to an incredible softness filled with a gorgeous salsa made with zucchini, mushroom and red peppers. With a drizzle of creamy aioli on top, this flavoursome, juicy combination definitely made our mouth water! Meanwhile, they turned up the heat on the Steak Tartare. The textured, coarse ground was mixed with plenty of spices offering a rather spicy experience. Very appetising indeed.

We were simply awestruck by “The Platter”. Standing front and centre of the gigantic platter was the Pork Knuckle. Roasted to a perfect crisp, it’s outer, crunchy skin offered an amazing crackle. The inner was juicy and succulent, simply seasoned with salt ensured a flawless pork flavour was accident in every bite.

Another standout on the platter were the Pork Croquettes. The lightly crumbed outer wrapped an inner of juicy pulled pork that was neither tough nor dry. Meanwhile, the Kransky Bombs offered up an amazingly cheesy burst of goodness with each bite.

The Bretzel Crumbed Wings should not be missed either. The coarse breading was fried to a perfect golden brown and offered a tasty companion to the the meaty drumette. The protein within was unbelievably juicy, with an almost bouncy feedback.

This was of course served with the signature sauerkraut that was so flavoursome and tangy, while the rich, creamy mash was just a heavenly, pillowy experience.

The Mediocre

Nothing.

The Bad

Nothing.

The Verdict

Offering a more modern take on German cuisine than its traditional brother Hofbrauhaus, The Hof Downtown dishes up just as sizeable portions that are equally delicious and are bound to satisfy.

You really shouldn’t miss out on their giant Platter, which offers patrons a diverse selection German staples, all deliciously unique and offering an amazing experience. While you are devouring the meaty feast though, make sure to pair it with a refreshing and fruity German bier too!
