The Good
We were off to a tasty start with the Eggplant Meatballs. Rather sizeable and served in a divine tomato sugo, the balls were loosely held together and the soft, gooey eggplant was simply delectable. Win a texture akin to a soft fluffy pillow, thee vegetarian meatballs certainly impressed.
We also enjoyed the Risotto Ai Gamberi. The simple yet elegant presentation made for a light and scrumptious dish. The plate of risotto was soft yet offered up a hint of chewiness. The Abbachip Alla Roma was an instant standout. This tradition Roman dish was just perfection. The generous chunks of lamb were grilled to perfection, so soft and tender, effortlessly melting away in your mouth. This was coated in just the most appetising, thick and flavourful sauce comprised of garlic, Rosemary, and plenty of lamb juices. With plenty of fluffy baked potatoes surrounding the dish, we seriously couldn’t get enough of it.
We rounded off our meal with the owner’s favourite, the Boscaiola Pizza. With a stracciatella cheese base, the bottom dough was suitably thin yet crisp thanks to the woodfired oven. This teetered out to a puffy edge that was light yet crunchy. On top sat quality cuts of speck, which was beautifully accompanied by juicy porcini mushrooms and an aromatic drizzle of truffle oil. The occasional bite nduja scatters throughout created an excitable spice, though thankful it’s heat was rounded off by the light yet creamy cheese. Delicious.

Offering an upmarket dining experience that’s coupled with a classic and an authentic experience, Il Caminetto seemingly has it all. Delicious traditional Italian dishes like the Abbachip Alla Roma is a must, and of course, the pizzas too!
Round it off with such warm and friendly Italian hospitality and quality wines, this is the place you want to lounge around all afternoon.
