The Good
The Gold Digger was an instant standout. Between the soft fluffy buns, the gorgeous Southern Fried Chicken took centre stage. The well seasoned, golden brown outer offered up a satisfying crunch. Within, the chicken was incredibly succulent and juicy, it’s savoury flavours well paired with the buttermilk batter. Paired with some crisp bacon and smothered in a creamy yet tangy Yeezy sauce, all contrasted by a fresh slaw, this was one flawless chicken burger!
We thoroughly enjoyed The College Dropout as well. Loaded with double beef patties and a piece of Southern Fried Chicken, this was one massive burger to say the least. The Fried Chicken was a standout once again, and nicely paired with the thin yet flavourful beef patties. The beef was a coarse ground made from brisket, creating a perfect blend of lean and fat and offering just an incredible beef flavour and juicy sensation. Coupled with plenty of melted cheese and the appetising Yeezy sauce, all sandwiched in fresh, fluffy buns, it’s no surprise this burger was the headline act of the venue.
We polished off our meal with some Chips with some more Yeezy sauce and oh, a heavenly spicy North-West Sauce. The North-West offered up a good amount of heat, well spiced though rounded off by the creamy richness. An amazing option for anyone who loves spice!
The Mediocre
Nothing.
The Bad
Nothing.
The Verdict
Newly opened within RMIT University in the CBD, The College Dropout is the latest Kayne-inspired initiative from the brainchild behind Nuts About Tella.
Despite it’s affordable pricing, you can expect the same quality and attention to detail found at various Nuts About Tella venues. This of course, translates to one of the best burgers in Melbourne, and definitely our favourite in the CBD.
