The Good

We were off to a tasty start with the Rice Vermicelli Salad with Spring Rolls and Grilled Chicken. The warm vermicelli noodles were plentiful and silky smooth. This was nicely accompanied by fresh shredded greens including lettuce, carrot and cucumber all providing excellent crunch. Topped with juicy and nicely charred grilled chicken as well as small though crunchy spring rolls, this dish was

We also enjoyed the Fish Clay Pot. The two slices of fish were stewed in an amazing, fragrant and savoury sauce that was exceptionally bold in flavour. The ginger and soy base is of course the signature accompaniment to any Asian seafood dish, and the two tender fillets borrowed much of its flavour from the broth within. When served with rice, this dish was just so incredibly scrumptious.

The Mediocre

Nothing.

Unfortunately the Com Tam failed to impress. The broken rice itself was disappointing, and on this occasion was rather stale and quite dry and chewy. The grilled pork was nicely seasoned, though severely overcooked and was incredibly tough and dry.

The Verdict

While most of our dishes definitely satisfied, the Com Tam, which is a Vietnamese staple, really missed its mark.

Despite this, and the smaller than expected portions, we are hopeful to have a more consistent experience next time round, because that fish stew was just absolutely sensational.
