The Good

It was a pleasant start to our meal with the Bruschetta Classica. Served on two giant pieces of charred sourdough, the fresh chopped tomatoes paired with red onions created a vibrant, and very refreshing sensation. With a generous drizzle of olive oil and leaves of basil sitting on top, this classic Italian starter ticked all the boxes.

Our Penne Bolognese also impressed. The rich, slow cooked Bolognese sauce was just so flavourful and bold. The slightly sweet tomato base inherited much flavours from the quality mince, and the sauce generously coated each tube of Penne. With bits of Parmesan sprinkled on top, this was a true Italian classic and absolutely done to perfection.

Our pizzas consisted of the simple Margherita Buffala, as well as the Salsiccia.

The elegance of the Margherita was undeniable. Topped with beautiful large leaves of basil and dollops of slowly melting buffalo mozzarella onto an aromatic, rich tomato base, the toppings were undeniably of high quality and made in true Italian fashion. The base itself though was just sensational. Utilising 3 different types of flour and proofed for a whole 72 hours, the light, fluffy and incredibly fragrant dough seemingly offered no compromise. The beautifully charred crust was crisp and light, with an almost pillowy quality to it. Meanwhile, the base was thin yet strong, not at all soggy and was very flavoursome by itself.

Our Salsiccia Pizza also impressed. The same signature base and dough formed the perfect foundation for the delicious toppings. The thick cut poricini mushrooms chunky and juicy, perfectly accompanied by the tasty house made pork and fennel sausages scattered throughout. All held together by a delightful tomato base and plenty of melted fior di latte,

We rounded off our meal with the Pistachio and the Tartufo Semifreddo.

The Tartufo was nicely moulded with hazelnut and chocolate gelato, offering a well balanced, pleasantly sweet and creamy outer. Within the quality gelato was an inner core of decadent dark chocolate ganache, offering just the right amount of bitterness to round out the sweeter components. What a way to indulge!
