The Good

We were immediately impressed as the dishes arrived at our table. Starting off with the impeccably presented Polenta Chips, the four chips had a beautifully crunchy, golden brown outer topped with a rich parmesan cream. The polenta chip itself was light and fluffy, nicely juxtaposed by a crunchy outer shell. Delicious.

We then dug into the most awaited item, the Grass Fed Eye Fillet. Weighing in at 250 grams, the thick cut steak was cooked to absolute perfection. The lightly charred outer created plenty of aroma, and the slight caramelising made for amazing flavours and crispness, which enclosed a stunning pink inner. The protein itself was top notch. So tender and soft that we could easily cut open without a steak knife. The flavours were bold and forward all without being overly fatty or rich, delivering an excellent beefy sensation with each effortless bite. Served with a generous helping of crunchy based battered chips, this steak most definitely impressed.

Our Gnocchi Del Telefono certainly didn’t disappoint either. The gnocchi was of course made in house. The soft, fluffy parcels were pillowy and divine, gently melting away in your mouth alongside a rich yet tart tomato Sugo. This was nicely accompanied by dollops of melted buffalo mozzarella which offered a light creaminess throughout.

With a wood-fired oven in store, their pizzas were of course a must try. We also enjoyed the Bari, which was topped with roasted cherry tomatoes, prawns and zucchini. The base and dough had a nice aroma, though was predictably a bit too soggy due to the wet toppings which sat on top. The crust though was nice and fluffy, with hints of crisp charring. The prawns though we’re absolutely delicious, so French and crunchy, and beautifully paired with the sweetness of the cherry tomatoes.

The Mediocre

Nothing.

The Bad

Nothing.

The Verdict

With such a motto as “The Meat Experts”, we expected nothing less at The Grosvenor, and it’s no surprise the highlight of our meal was the Rib Eye.

Perfect execution, quality cut and nicely paired with a wide section of wines and beers, we might have just found our new favourite steak joint!
