The Good
We were off to a tasty start with the Nasi Lemak. In true classic Malaysian fashion, it came with chunks of tasty chicken rendang. The juicy cuts of chicken were beautifully marinated with plenty of spices and so full of flavour. Alongside sat the usual condiments including cucumber, boiled eggs, anchovies, peanuts, and of course a spicy sambal to tie it altogether. The spicy, crunchy and flavourful combination made this a very tasty dish indeed.
We also enjoyed the Bak Kut Teh. Another Malaysian classic, we found the herbal soup fragrant and aromatic. The wholesome, herbal broth was slightly sweet and savoury, loaded with cuts of pork belly, mushrooms and spongy tofu. The broth was easily some of the strongest and tastiest we’ve come across, and the soft cuts of tender pork and tofu were generous in portion.
The Chow Kuay Teow wasn’t bad either. Fresh out of the wok fryer, the rice noodles offered up an excellent aroma and plenty of “wok hei”. The light, fluffy texture of the noodles were accompanied by plenty of spring onion, bean shoots, prawns, fish cake and Chinese sausage. We opted for a mild version this time, though more spice would’ve definitely lifted the flavours and the dish to the next level.
The Mediocre
Nothing.
The Bad
Nothing.
The Verdict
A small little eatery not much more than a takeaway joint, Klang and Co dishes up some very tasty and authentic Malaysian cuisine at a great price. Their Bak Kut Teh was definitely one of the best we’ve tasted, and the Nasi Lemak was pretty great too!
