The Good
The Furious Chorizo Dog was just delicious. Topped with a rich tomato base con carne bolognese, the flavourful base was mixed with plenty of hot sauce and jalapenos that made for a tingly and spicy sensation. Within, chopped up chunks of chorizo were plentiful and added a nice salty flavour, all held together by a fluffy brioche hot dog buns that was soft yet held its structure.
We also enjoyed the Beef Sausage Brekky Dog. The sunny fried egg on top was a definite eye catcher. Underneath we found plenty of nicely caramelised bacon bits which sat alongside a juicy beef sausage. With a sweet tomato sauce and fried onion as garnish, this really felt like breakfast in a hot dog!
We rounded out our meal with some Hot Jam Donuts. Fresh out of the fryer, the donuts carried a lightly crisp outer that enclosed a spongy, pillowy inner. This was complemented by a dollop of jam that added just the right amount of sweetness. The perfect ending to our meal!
The Mediocre
Nothing.
The Bad
Nothing.
The Verdict
An unassuming little takeaway joint, Piggy Smalls serves up affordably priced hot dogs with a delicious range of flavours and toppings.
The small menu is clear and well thought out, and the components within each flavour work remarkably well together. For a quick, tasty bite, it’s not hard to understand why Piggy Smalls is bustling with locals.
