The Good

It was an appetising start with the Pineapple Bun with Butter. Toasted and served warm, the signature Hong Kong pastry had a light, crumbly and slightly caramelized outer that makes way for a fluffy and soft inner. Sandwiched between was a thick slice of slowly melting butter that added a rich and decadent creaminess that made this traditional treat so comforting and absolutely irresistible.

We then dug into our Baked Rice.
The Tomato Baked Rice with Pork Chop is a traditional Hong Kong classic. Topped with melted cheese and a thick tomato sauce, we found two giant slices of grilled pork chops underneath the still bubbling sauce. The tender protein and a flavourful, sweet and tangy sauce was the perfect combination, all served with a generous bed of fried rice go soak it all up. Delicious.

The Portuguese Style Baked Rice didn’t disappoint either. With a slight curry flavour and a rich coconut base, the yellow sauce was thick and creamy. Once again fresh off the grill, the piping hot dish was also a generous serve and was equally appetising.

The Mediocre

Nothing.

The Bad

Nothing.

The Verdict

Upon entering this venue, you are instantly transported to a traditional Cha Chaan Teng (Hong Kong Cafe) right in the middle of Hong Kong.
From the seating and ambience, the food and service, right down to the cleanliness or lack thereof (yes we saw someone smack a cockroach with a menu), it was all absolutely on point.
For an authentic Hong Kong experience right here Melbourne, you really can’t miss this.
