The Good
It was a great start with the Autumn Savoury Special. The salmon and cream cheese combination was of course an instant classic, with the dill adding another layer of depth in flavour that was both aromatic and enticing. This was combined with fresh leaves of spinach and sweet red onion. Meanwhile, the crispy shallots within added a nice crunch element. All served within a warm, freshly made crepe, this was sure to be a winter warmer.
We also enjoyed the Spinach, Mushroom and Cheese crepe. We found the crepe generous filled with juicy, sliced mushrooms and plenty of spinach. The cheese within added a creamy quality and definitely assisted in holding all the ingredients together.
Not to be missed were their sweet crepes. We opted for the classic Nutella crepe. Within the thin and warm French pancake, the nutella was liberally applied and created an intense rich, sweet sensation that
This was nicely paired with their delicious Hot Chocolate, which, alongside a warm crepe, was perfect on a cold day like our visit.
The Mediocre
Unfortunately we weren’t too impressed with the shakes. Our Cookies and Cream shake was overly sweet. With an overwhelmingly cheap vanilla ice cream flavour that formed the base, it was best to give this one a miss.
The Bad
Nothing.
The Verdict
Carnival Crepes offer up quick, freshly made and tasty crepes at an affordable price point.
The thoughtful combination of ingredients is evident in both their sweet and savoury variants, offering a well balanced and enjoyable experience that was light though satisfying.
