The Good
We were off to a fantastic start with the coffees. Promptly served at a nice hot temperature, the aroma was just incredible. The smooth and creamy texture was accompanied by a bold, forward flavour with a pleasant and fruity aftertaste that lingered long after. Definitely one of the best coffees we’ve had for a while.
We then dug into the Hash Stack. Beautifully presented, the two perfectly poached eggs with exceedingly runny yolks dribbled down onto the thick cut potato hash. This was served with a generous helping of crispy, aptly fatty bacon, all balanced off by sauteed kale of course! With the vibrant bloody Mary hollandaise offering plenty of spice and holding it altogether, this was one scrumptious dish.
The Vegetarian Big Breakfast didn’t disappoint either. The beautiful scrambled eggs were light and fluffy with a silky smooth texture. Alongside sat plenty of plump, juicy mushrooms, sweet grilled tomatoes, and a generous helping of creamy, smashed avocado. This was served with a thick slice of sourdough toast as well as a crunchy hash brown. A simple, no fuss, yet absolutely satisfying feed.
The Mediocre
Nothing.
The Bad
Nothing.
The Verdict
Tucked away in an inconspicuous location, St Edmond is a true beughbouyrhood gem.
With a simple yet well executed menu that nails the basics, coupled with a fantastic cup of coffee, we certainly regret not having discovered them sooner!
Would Penguin Eat Again?
Can’t wait to stop by for coffees again.
