  • Shanghai Fried Thick Noodles

The Good

Signature Shanghai Pan Fried Mini Bun Pork of course was the absolute standout of the lunch. These featured beautifully light, fluffy buns that were fried to achieve a perfectly crispy base. The inner portion was generously filled, delivering incredibly juicy, almost bouncy pork.

The Mediocre

The Shanghai Fried Thick Noodles were A bit on the oily side. There was not too much meat or black fungus mixed in, leaving the dish to be mostly just noodles. The taste profile was authentic and decent though, which kept it enjoyable despite the ratios.

The Bad

Nothing.

The Verdict

Shanghai Street remains a solid staple in the CBD for a quick, comforting meal. While the noodle dish was slightly unbalanced and a bit too oily, the expert execution of the pan-fried mini buns easily carried the lunch. It is definitely worth battling the Little Bourke Street lunch crowds to satisfy a craving for high-quality, juicy pork buns.
