The Good
The Stir-Fried Pork With Green Pepper Rice Bowl was a terrific start, delivering generous portions of remarkably tender sliced pork in a deeply flavoursome sauce. We particularly enjoyed the medium chilli heat, which built steadily and offered plenty of character without obscuring the other flavours. Those less accustomed to spice should be aware that the medium setting is rather lively.
Even better was the Pork Mince and Eggplant With Pounded Chili Rice Bowl. The delicious wok aroma was immediately apparent, while the eggplant was cooked to a beautifully juicy, tender softness and had absorbed the savoury sauce remarkably well. A wonderfully satisfying and full-flavoured combination.
The Mediocre
Nothing.
The Bad
Nothing.
The Verdict
Pounding Rice Bowl delivered a genuinely enjoyable and generously portioned meal, with both rice bowls displaying bold flavour and carefully cooked ingredients. The eggplant was a particular standout, although the pork was no less satisfying. Complimentary unlimited side dishes, including crisp, tangy pickles, provided a refreshing contrast to the richer bowls. Excellent value, provided you arrive hungry and are prepared for some proper chilli heat.
