- Boeuf Bourguignon
- Coq Au Vin
The Good
Being the first time trying Escargot, we were pleasantly surprised. With an incredibly earthy taste, the snails had a slight crunch initially. The fishyness was not overwhelming and was pleasantly paired with the red wine sauce.
The Mediocre
The Boeuf Bourguinon was serviceable, though not remarkable. The beef within wasn't as soft and tender as we would like, with the red wine sauce overly watery for our taste. The bread top was amazing though.
Coq Au Vin was another must-try dish at any French restaurant. Once again however, it was unremarkable at best. The chicken itself was overcooked and hence dry. The red wine sauce here was overly acidic.
The Bad
Nothing.
The Verdict
While pleasant overall, this meal was not a good representation of authentic French cuisine. The execution was just too far from what you can get in France.
Would Penguin Eat Again?
Not likely.
