The Good
The smashed beef ribs were delicious. They were exceedingly tender and juicy. Full of flavour and just melted in your mouth. While they were a tad fatty and salty, these were some of the most delicious beef ribs I’ve had nonetheless.
The chicken was fried well. Crispy outer skin enclosed the soft and juicy Maryland. The batter was seasoned just right and made for some delicious fried chicken.
The chicken soup was also full of flavour. While presentation left a lot to be desired, the soup along with the plentiful ingredients were delicious. Chicken was tender and noodles were plentiful which complemented the soup rather well.
The Mediocre
Charging $2 each for a tiny plate of rice seems overkill. Additionally, the sambal was so hot and spicy it was virtually inedible, despite being a lover of chilli myself.
The Bad
Nothing.
The Verdict
Overall a very decent and authentic Indonesian meal for an afford price. The cooking for all dishes were pretty spot on and made for a delicious experience.
Would Penguin Eat Again?
Sure. This is now my default go-to Indonesian restaurant. I just don’t get why everything is “smashed”… 😂
