The Good
Despite looking a tad on the small side, the burger was packed full of juicy meaty goodness. Sandwiched between the soft and lightly toasted brioche, were two flavourful, medium beef patties moulded together, holding in place gooey cheddar cheese within. Combined with additional cheese and bacon, this burger was absolutely bursting with flavour.
The chips were also rather tasty. Extremely crunchy on the outer and loaded with an abundance of salt and paprika, these fried potatoes have surely improved from the days of Cafe51 and represents much more than just an afterthought.
The Mediocre
Unfortunately on this occasion, we found the bacon over-fryed. While exceptionally crunchy, perhaps even overly so, it was definitely too dark for our liking.
The Bad
Nothing.
The Verdict
Predictably and unsurprisingly, the offshoot of Cafe51 dishes up rather tasty burgers that holds true to its origins and their own unique twists. The improvement in chips is definitely welcome change, and despite some inconsistency issues, the burgers here remain one of my favourites in Melbourne.
Would Penguin Eat Again?
Being a lover of the original and infamous Cafe 51, I am very delighted to report that Burgerlove has held true to their origins and provide quality, tasty burgers at an extremely affordable price point. There's no doubt I'd be back. Soon.
