The Good
The Lemon Meringue Croissant was simply divine. Stunningly beautiful, the flakey and crunchy outer was topped with a line of beautifully piped meringue. Chomping down revealed a buttery and airy inner that was filled with a lemon jam that was the perfect balance of sweet and tangy. Coming highly recommended by the barista, I am not surprised I only just managed to grab the last one for the day. It was an absolutely sensational croissant and I enjoyed every last bite.
Eggs Benedict with Pulled Pork was a must have given our past experience, and it surely didn't disappoint. Generous amounts of succulent, juicy pulled pork combined with their beautifully poached egg and hollomdaise sauce made for an exceptionally flavourful dish. Soaking up the juices with their house made toast, eggs Benedict sinfully do not get better than this.
We also enjoyed the Pulled pork burger. Opting for the burger without the mash, the burger was heated up in a sandwich press which sadly flattened the bun. Within though, was the same juicy and flavourful pulled pork and some of the smoothest and creamiest scrambled eggs. Along with the exceedingly buttery brioche bun, this breakfast burger was thoroughly enjoyable despite being squished.
The Mediocre
We found the Rustica Breaky Board rather unspectacular. All components presented on the tray were unimpressive, and even that granola with yoghurt was something one can easily whip up at home. Put side by side against the Eggs Benedict with Pulled Pork and their sweet Croissants, this item was thoroughly mediocre.
The Bad
The Hot Chocolate was very disappointing. Watery and lacking in thickness or flavour, this beautifully presented hot drink closely resembled a luke warm cup of milk.
The Verdict
Once again, Rustica holds true to their name and delivers exceptionally tasty and scrumptious baked goods. The Lemon Meringue Croissant was unique yet sensational, and was definitely the highlight of the breakfast.
Would Penguin Eat Again?
Definitely. There is no doubt I will be back for more of their croissants for sure.
