The Good

The Hojicha Ice Cream was absolutely divine. With a bold aroma of roasted tea, the ice cream itself was full of flavour. The creamy and smooth texture were also welcome qualities and quickly made this a crowd favourite.

We also enjoyed the Matcha Cheesecake. Combining the rich and creamy texture of an ordinary cheesecake, along with the fragrant matcha, the cheesecake was very palatable. With just the right firmness and coupled with a hard biscuity base, we thoroughly enjoyed the perfect combination of creaminess and aromatic

The Matcha Raspberry Shortcake can perhaps be best described as a less intense and 'lighter' version of the Matcha Cheesecake. With lightly flavoured but exceptionally smooth matcha cream sandwiched between two layers of fresh airy sponge, the cake was topped with a variety of fresh fruits. The fruity freshness, coupled with the lightness of the cream and sponge, made it a refreshing treat.

The Mediocre

I personally didn't quite enjoy the Yuzu Mango. The signature sweetness and bitterness of yuzu was rather muted, and was overpowered by the mango. Despite this, the cake itself was soft and spongey, and the different layers of cream provided an interesting diversity in texture.

The Bad

Nothing.

The Verdict

It was overall a very enjoyable spread of desserts and sweets. The freshness was undeniable as were the incredible balance of flavours, with nothing being overwhelmingly sweet.

Would Penguin Eat Again?

Definitely. With that amazing Hojicha Ice Cream which ranks amongst some of the best I've ever had, I'd happily return any day of the week for more.

I will also need to try their mains though, as they too, look mighty delicious as well.
