The Good
We thoroughly enjoyed the Slow Cooked Lamb. Having been slow cooked for twelve whole hours, the generous serving of lamb was roasted to perfection. Juicy and succulent, the protein fell apart with just the push of a fork and made way for a well spiced and exceptionally flavoursome experience. This was well accompanied by a giant helping of yoghurt which added a beautiful creaminess and of course perfectly complemented the lamb. With the spinach providing freshness and crunchy walnuts as well as the suddenly bursts of juiciness thanks to the pomegranate seeds adding contrast, this was one dish that felt unrelentless in delivering mouthfuls of flavour.
The Honey Glazed Ham Hock Benedict didn’t disappoint either. Topped with two perfectly poached eggs with exceptionally runny yolks, the creamy hollandaise was liberally applied and worked rather well with the star of the show, the ham hock itself. With a pleasant though not overpowering sweetness throughout, we found the tender cuts of pork flavoursome and forward, well matched by the occasional strand of sweet caramelised onions. This was served on two slices of toast both of which were serviceable but paled in contrast to the pork.
The meal concluded with a helping of French Pancake Stack. The stunning presentation led to a divine sweet treat, characterised by gooey, caramelised banana, silky smooth creme friache sitting on top of a stack of thin yet spongy pancakes. With a sensational, bouncy feedback, the pancakes were well complemented by the tartness of fresh berries and sweetness from a drizzle of honey. Adding on a smear of peanut butter into the mix only made the flavours bolder and this treat even more enjoyable.
The Mediocre
Nothing.
The Bad
Nothing.
