The Good
The 18hr Pork Belly was simply incredible. The pork belly itself was simply sensational. The perfect layer of crackle hid away a thick, chunky piece of aptly fatty protein. The abundance of fat ensured that the protein had plenty of flavour and indulgently succulent. Surrounding it was a generous helping of juicy, caramelised mushrooms swimming in a pool of a rich and incredibly fragrant truffle cream sauce. With the crunch of polenta chips and pork crackle contrasting the softer components, this was hearty, wholesome and dish that just kept on giving.
An arguably much lighter dish was the Crispy Skin Salmon. Perfectly fried to a beautiful crisp, the protein underneath the skin was still-pink and incredibly tender and succulent. The thick zucchini pappardelle was crunchy and textured, well accompanied by a fragrant and slightly tangy salsa verde. Adding on avocado and egg, coupled with crispy fried leek and fluffy puffed grains, made this an incredibly wholesome and well-balanced breakfast choice.
We also enjoyed the Warm Pumpkin Salad. Standing tall was the generously sized, incredibly tasty slice of butternut pumpkin. Roasted to perfection, the soft, almost gooey texture melted away in your mouth, well accompanied by the fluffy, textured buckwheat. With the occasional crunch of almonds and toasted seeds providing a satisfying diversity in texture, we felt that the only thing this salad needed more was a tad more seasoning.
The Mediocre
Nothing.
The Bad
Nothing.
The Verdict
Turning Point is a much needed addition to the sleep suburb of Ripponlea. With a diverse menu that’s bound to tickle your tastebuds and more-than-generous portion sizes, this new arrival is bound to satisfy and become a local favourite.
