The Good
The Eggplant Wedges were rather delicious. Lightly battered and fried to a nice crisp, chomping down into the eggplant within reveals a soft and almost gooey inner. This was well paired with a spicy mayo which added a
We also enjoyed the Corn Cob. Liberally topped with a generous helping of Parmesan cheese, the chargrilled corn were crunchy and juicy. With a drizzle of chipotle mayo adding spice and a squirt of lime, this was a tasty snack that delivered plenty of flavour, albeit the cheese was a tad much at times.
Our Evie’s Cheeseburger didn’t disappoint either. All the foundations of a solid burger were present. Soft, fluffy bun, fresh salad, tasty beef and melted cheese. Unfortunately our addition of fried chicken turned out to be a mistake, as the fried chicken was disappointingly dry and overcooked.
The Mediocre
Their Philly Cheesesteak certainly wasn’t bad either, though far from the traditional Cheesesteak were hoping for. The steak within was tender and soft, though we could’ve done with bigger chunks and definitely more seasoning. However the mixture of cheese, pepper and jalapeños definitely was undoubtedly tasty, and combined with a toasted roll, this cheesesteak was still appetising.
The Bad
It’s best to give Evie’s Vegan Burger a miss. The crumbed mushroom patty was doughy, powdery and flavourless. The bun was dry stale. What a huge disappointment given the half decent cheeseburger.
The Verdict
With a quirky retro fit out and a disco theme, Evie’s Disco Diner provides a quick and affordable feed that won’t break the bank.
While the food here may not blow you away, Evie’s does dish out some perfectly serviceable burgers and chips that definitely won’t disappoint before, or after a big night out!
