The Good

It was an impressive start with the Pan Roasted Barramundi. Stunningly plated, the gorgeous barramundi fillet was grilled to perfection. The outer was crispy and displayed slight caramelised edges. Enclosed within, the protein was impeccable. The beautiful fresh fish flavour was tasty and bold, and the protein was just so tender and juicy. Accompanied by a delicious grain salad with bursts of sweetness thanks to pomegranate seeds as well as a thick and creamy sweet potato sauce.

Next, we dug into the enormous Slow Roasted Lamb Shoulder, weighing in at a hefty 600g. Well-marinated with plenty is spices and cooked under low heat in a slow roasting process, the lamb was simply delectable. Peeling away the thin, charred skin reveals a plump and decadent inner of such tender and succulent lamb. The lamb sensation was forward and bold, well matched by just a touch of tang thanks to the creamy tzaziki. Underneath sat a generous helping of roast potatoes, and boy these were simply some of the best potatoes ever. Pillowy soft, creamy and incredibly smooth, the texture was just unbeatable! Such a wholesome and hearty dish that just kept on giving!

We rounded off our meal with a Lemon Curd Tart and a Baklava. This must be the biggest slice of baklava we’ve come across! The giant slice was loaded high with plenty of pistachios and almonds, drenched in a lovely syrup that was neither too sticky nor too sweet, the balance was just right. Our only wish was that the pastry could be a tad more flakey.

The Lemon Curd Tart was also delicious. The lemon curd was well balanced in sweet and sour, it’s sticky, gooey consistency nicely juxtaposed by the crunch of the outer tart holding it altogether.

The Bad

The Verdict

It was overall an utterly delicious and thoroughly enjoyable feast. The amazing Greek influences permeate not just through their well-executed menu, but also in their warm, welcoming hospitality.

With such generous portions and delicious food, it’s no surprise Olive Lane was packed with locals on a Sunday afternoon.
