The Good

It was a healthy start to our breaky with the pretty Garden Bowl. Topped with perfectly runny poached eggs, the warm quinoa and crushed peas were light and fluffy. Sitting alongside were cloves of roasted cauliflower, well matched with crisp, fried kale and crunchy beetroot. Tying it altogether was the sweet pumpkin purée and creamy goats cheese. A delicious and wholesome bowl indeed.

The Fluffy Pancakes are a must have. The three-high stack of pancakes exhibited a slight, crispy outer than enclosed a sponge and fluff inner. Topped with crunchy crushed almonds and accompanied by a heavenly, silky smooth berry Panna Cotta created an amazing textural diversity. We added a generous drizzle of maple syrup for sweetness, and this treat definitely cured our sweet tooth.

The Mediocre

Unfortunately the Zouz Benedict fell short of expectations. The slow cooked pulled pork was passable, though the sauce was far too sweet and overwhelming. Unfortunately, this masked the flavours of the smashed avocado as well the hollandaise sauce. The hash brown it was all sitting on was neither crunchy nor crispy. Perhaps a once-off miss on execution, but undoubtedly the weakest dish of the meal.

The Bad

Nothing.

The Verdict

A large, airy cafe situated in Camberwell, Zouz offers an extensive breakfast and lunch menu comprising of the usual suspects like pancakes, eggs benny, and spaghetti bolognese.

Despite not at all groundbreaking in any way, we found the meals at Zouz generous, satiating and well priced. Perhaps a good spot for a quick brunch for the locals, but definitely far from a food destination.
